そのパワーを余すことなく取り入れるには、粉末状に挽いていただくのがベスト。硬い殻はオイルを酸化から守りますが、よく噛まずに食べると消化されずに通過してしまうことがあります。コーヒーミルやスパイスミルで必要な分だけ挽けば、鮮度も香りもそのまま、栄養も逃しません。丸ごと食べる場合は、しっかりと噛むのがポイントです。

Praised as one of the most remarkable plants, flaxseed—also known as linseed—has supported human life since ancient times. Its seeds have been consumed as food or pressed into oil, while its fibers have been used to produce linen and paper, bringing benefits to humankind for thousands of years.
Flaxseed is exceptionally nutrient-dense and is a staple in daily diets and supplements in many countries, particularly in the West. It is especially rich in three key nutrients: omega-3 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid), which modern diets often lack, dietary fiber, and lignans—a type of polyphenol.
To harness its full potential, the seeds are best consumed ground into a fine powder. The hard outer shell protects the oil from oxidation, but if swallowed without thorough chewing, the seeds can pass through the body undigested. Grinding the seeds with a coffee grinder or spice mill just before use preserves their freshness, aroma, and nutritional value. If eating them whole, be sure to chew thoroughly.
Flaxseed also transforms into a gel-like texture when mixed with water, similar to chia seeds. This property makes it perfect for creating flavored and dried “flax crackers,” using the powder as a binder in breads and cookies, or as an egg substitute in vegan baking.
